On Music, Culture & The Private Prison Industry
✔️Did you know?
💯Because of the privatization of the prison system, prisons are essentially, COMMERCIAL BUSINESS whose contracts demand 90% prison inmate occupancy?
✔️Did you know?
💯The major prison companies PUBLICLY TRADE on the Stock Exchange and are required to report profits to their shareholders (just like Apple, Starbucks, Google, Procter & Gamble, Amazon etc)
✔️Did you know?
💯The Music Industry has multiple record labels who INVEST directly in the prison system for profit?
✔️ Did you know?
💔African-Americans are only 13% of the American population, but account for a whopping 40% of the prison population.
So tell me... considering the above facts, what kind of music do you think these record labels are investing in? And its safe to say, that in the same way that the music industry invests in private prisons, the private prisons also invest in the music industry.
What kind of music do you think they seek to invest in? What lifestyle do they want to promote? What messages do they want to produce? What ARTISTS make popular? What music has been proven, in their eyes, to help them receive the highest return, on their prison investment?
If you look around, you can see the overnight success of unremarkable and almost always unconscious hip hop artists, who are turned into smash successes, practically overnight, due to marketing and an abundant cash flow investment, by record labels.
Unconscious music, more specifically unconscious “urban” music, is strategically being invested in by people who rarely look like the artist, and who do not care about the repercussions of the message on our youth, so long as the investors make a profit.
But is it really some big scheme? Like, “it’s not that deep” right? There is no smoke filled room filled with 10 people making decisions that effect 100 million people— right?
Wrong.
Ninety percent of what Americans listen to, read and watch, are provided and controlled by just six media companies. And of the “big six” media companies, due to consolidation, they actually wind up being only four media based conglomerates. And of the four that control our television, print, telecommunications and radio, there are ZERO, that are devoted specifically to conscious only material.
It’s not difficult to see why unconscious music success is at an all time high, in sales and acceptance proven by the music charts. It can be said, unconscious and BLACK music is ruling not only popular music but also popular culture. It’s clear to see that in an industry where planning and advance placement of material is the norm, the fact that unconscious black music is the sound of the times, is most definitely and without doubt, on purpose.
Still not convinced? Still asking whats so bad about unconscious music, really? What’s the big deal?
Well. Music influences and imprints every aspect of our lives in human culture. From movies, to fashion, to television, social media, travel destinations, magazines, even tv commercials. Every element we are involved in, is highly influenced by music.
Music sets the mood and tone for our lives. The effect music has on on our emotions, coupled with the message of the lyrics, which directly influence our minds and intellect, leads us to be deeply imprinted by music.
Without doubt, music influences the direction we take, inside of our environments.
Music is like the water, every ship sails upon. And the current of the water determines where the ship will go, when there is no conscious person onboard, to steer that ship. At present, the music industry, together with the private prison industry, are banking on there being no conscious youth nor adults, aboard our ships. So that we will all go... wherever the music takes us.
The current unconscious musical culture has created a mindset that relaxes morality, promotes and encourages dysfunctional mentalities and behaviors, like drug use, promiscuity, lack of relationship commitment, murder, robbery, carefree attitudes and impulsive tendencies. It assaults our mental filters through the use of overwhelming profanity and misogyny. And sets up morally void examples to be idolized. Usually with the same cookie cutter traits. The only difference being, each successor, is more over the top, than the last.
Unconscious music serves a very strategic purpose, and it’s clear why music record labels and private prison companies invest in it. These investors know what mindset will keep the return high for their prison investment. Unconscious music has helped create the prisoners we currently have in America, and it is securing their investment for the future, by molding the hearts and minds in order to create the future prison population.
I need this to stand out, so please excuse the caps lock: THEY WANT OUR YOUNG PEOPLE'S MINDS SO THEY WILL HAVE A RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENT IN PRISONS. Everyone of our children are perceived as a potential customer of unconscious music, in order to become a potential PRODUCT as a NEW PRISONER in their prisons.
So their pockets can get fatter. So their pockets can get fatter. So their pockets can get fatter.
But... What about these human lives created by God to be free and live up to a dynamic and boundless potential? These lives that have children being raised without fathers and sometimes mothers due to their being imprisoned. These lives that had the potential to be doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists, high artists, carpenters, electricians, teachers.... but lose life opportunities because they were preyed upon, through a set upon unconscious culture, baking and molding them into human products with no rights, simply for their bodies. Their minds and hearts conditioned for the sake of being discarded. With the high hope, that they can be condemned as a person inside of a cell. All in exchange for a contract that pays a price, for the ceasing of their life.
It’s up to us. We have to insist. Our children, our brothers and our sisters, our fathers and our mothers, are not put here merely to be discarded for the shareholders wealth, who sells imprisonment for profit.
If that is all they see our youth to be good for, we must work to remind them they are meant for so much more.
It is essential that every single parent, GET TO KNOW THE MUSIC IN YOUR CHILDS PLAYLISTS. Our young people are walking around with lyrical teachers, constantly in their ear, and what they are being taught, is potentially corroding their goodness and corrupting their sensitivity.
If you leave this page today, understanding that there is a scheme against our youth and the impoverished communities, and they use MUSIC to complete the scheme, then I have done my job. If you leave here knowing that, and with a determination to help solve the problem then that is more than I could ever hope for. If we all commit to improving POPULAR CULTURE, which is the second home life for our young people, forming them and their peers and influencing their sensitivity and outlook on life— if you leave here wanting to be part of that change, then you are part of the solution, and I have been blessed to be a tool used to inspire you in this moment.
I hope for the latter but I can live with it all. I just can’t live with doing nothing.
